William tells Kate 'You look beautiful' as she arrives at the altar

'You look beautiful'Prince William speaks to his bride Kate as she holds her father's hand at the altar

The loving couple leaned in for a brief, but loving kiss, after which he smiled broadly while she giggled. The crowd in The Mall below, chanting ‘We want Kate, We want Kate’ simply roared with delight.
Then, as an RAF flypast was sweeping towards the palace, William whispered to Kate and leaned forward for a second, slightly more lingering kiss.

This was the fairytale a million people had taken to the streets of London to see today. And they were not disappointed.

Prince William and his bride Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, cut the first slice of the magnificent eight-tiered wedding cake this afternoon as they celebrated their marriage with friends and family.

The confectionery masterpiece covered in cream and white icing and decorated with up to 900 delicate sugar-paste flowers was centre-stage at the Buckingham Palace reception held in the picture gallery.

Kate Middleton marries her Prince in stunning design by Sarah Burton

Mrs Burton said the gown brought together the best of British craftsmanship
Sarah Burton won the greatest commission in fashion and the move will no doubt bolster her career and cement her status as McQueen's predecessor.
Burton retained McQueen's essence but injected a dose of romance to the label.

Burton said: 'I am delighted that the dress represents the best of British craftsmanship.

'Alexander McQueen's designs are all about bringing contrasts together to create startling and beautiful clothes and I hope that by marrying traditional fabrics and lacework, with a modern structure and design we have created a beautiful dress for Catherine on her wedding day.
Catherine looked absolutely stunning today, and the team at Alexander McQueen are very proud of what we have created.'
